1st Design Project for Design Methodologies

November 23rd, 2008

Let me start first with saying that I made a decision to stop schoool at this time in my life. I have been so busy with my business that it has been hard to keep school in my schedule. Before I left I did havea chance to finish two different projects. We had to define graphic design which I posted in an earlier post “Graphic Design Definition“. Our actual project was to try and design the definition of graphic design without using the computer. It was a great experience and after much comments from the professor and student my next project was great.

Coffee House Brand Project

April 11th, 2008

We were able to pick our second project for Design II class. I always wanted to brand a coffee shop from logo design to completion. I started playing around with names and wanted to add a little humor to it. The name of the coffee shop is “Evolution Coffé”. Below is my final in pdf form, a link to the website and a couple pictures I snapped of the products.

For my Design II class we had to select any of the many social issues that surround us and come up with several designs. I came up with two billboard designs. The pdf’s posted below are my brief, some sketches and the finals of the design.

Final project for Typography II

November 30th, 2007

Sorry I completely forgot to post this. Our assignment for this project was to design a typographic collage poster. This project as all projects with this class were a bit of a struggle. I can always come up with designs that are based around pictures and seeing how images speak. It was hard to get into that zone with text. It is something that I will continue to work on with my future upcoming classes. Judging by my grade I have come a long way. Below are the process book and the final project poster design. I did my design on the 10 commandments.

Annual Report Redesign Assignment

November 8th, 2007

We were given an assignment to redesign an Annual Report from a company of our choosing. The company I chose was Creative. It was a hard design to do because there was nothing but text to deal with. Along with some determination, coffee and the help of my classmates the overall design came out great. Below is the process book for my design that explains the process I went through to get through my design. Second link is the final I turned in to my teacher. Then on to our final assignment, a poster design, which I will post when it is done.

Typography Assignment at SCAD

October 4th, 2007

I am in my second course at SCAD and it has been great. I made an “A” in my first class and now I am taking Typography II with Professor John Waters. We have an assignment that we are working on right now where we have to come up with a shopping bag design, t-shirt band and tag. We are using an article that inspires us to fuel this design with typography and no images.

The article I chose was posted in a past blog I did: Creative Inspiration & Motivation.

The article can be found here: Staying Motivated

So far I am off to a good start and I have to turn in my final designs this weekend. Here are the rough sketches that I did for the designs and I will post the final products after they are done.

Evolution of Web Technologies

August 23rd, 2007

We had to create a discussion for a school assignment. The title was Evolution of Web Technologies. My response is below:

I believe the internet is becoming more social than it use to be. Now I can keep up with family in another city because of the blogs or information they post on various websites My Space. For people who have problems socializing, they tend to open up and be a book online. I can see the internet slowly becoming the “TV” of today Stumble Upon (channel surf the internet). Want to watch a funny video You Tube. Oh I missed a show download it on iTunes for a small fee. Cable is already digital and runs by a small computer box they put on top of your tv. I had a friend use his ipod as his dvd player except he didn’t have to lug around a bag full of dvd’s. The internet is changing the way we think and live. My mom now check’s online for a local stores times instead of just calling them. It is a resource, boundless information and a chance for a business to make it nationally. Everyone wants a piece of it, everyone is connected and the world has turned into one big living room where we all can network.

Corpus Christi Book Finished

Corpus Christi Book Design

July 12th, 2007

I am doing an assignment for school. We are needing to put a book together in Adobe InDesign about the city we live in. I currently reside in Corpus Christi, TX. That might change pretty soon though (job transition). So this book is also serving as a scrapbook (it’s a manly scrapbook I promise). Below are some photos I have already taken:

Texas State Aquarium Cole Park Skate Board Corpus Christi Twin Buildings Island Castle Kid’s Place Cole Park Lady Lex aka Blue Ghost Selena Shark Beach Shop Surfing Jesus Whataburger

In the order shown Texas State Aquarium, skate park at Cole Park, Twin Buildings, Island Castle Beach Shop, Cole Park Kid’s Place, Lady Lex (Blue Ghost), Selena, Destination Shop (shark entrance), Surfing Jesus (as referred by locals), and the famous Whataburger (originated in Corpus Christi, ate there today). All pictures taken by my 4th baby, Nikon D70. I will post the finished product after it is complete.
